This UK manufacturer of parking technology has installed over 60,000 systems, supporting more than a million car parking spaces in a thousand cities and towns across 45 countries.
The company needed a technical services partner to help it upgrade more than 300 parking meters in UK car parks with new barcode and scanner technology.
The machines were in remote locations and many were difficult to access in locations which were vulnerable to poor winter weather.
With all the equipment being in leisure and heritage venues, the project had to be completed within a very short timeframe before the start of the holiday season.
Qcom used a train-the-trainer technique, whereby two lead engineers received training at the client premises and these engineers then trained other members of Qcom’s engineering team.
This meant that a team of eight engineers covering the entire UK could be rapidly trained and deployed to all sites.
To the delight of both the manufacture and the customer, this quick-fire project was completed within four weeks, well ahead of the holiday-season deadline.
Our ability to train and deploy a nationwide team of eight engineers meant we could upgrade machines concurrently and hit the tightest of project timetables.
