With National Apprenticeship Week 2023 taking place all this week (6 to 12 February), Qcom has begun the search for its next generation of new talent.
Qcom has been a strong supporter of apprenticeships over many years, creating dozens of training and development opportunities for young people in all areas of the business.
We currently have two apprentice roles open, both based at our Worcestershire headquarters:
National Apprenticeship Week 2023 is the 16th annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships, designed to bring together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy
This year’s theme is “Skills for Life”; reflecting on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and businesses to develop a talented workforce that is equipped with future-ready skills.
As part of the balanced recruitment strategy which underpins our growth, Qcom has always invested in the training and development of the next generation via apprenticeship and graduate training and roles.
Having launched his own career via an apprenticeship, Qcom’s Head of Operations Rob Heritage said: “Investing in apprenticeships has been one of Qcom’s best and most consistently rewarding decisions over many years.
“Qcom apprenticeships have helped dozens of young people – including those with few or no qualifications – take their first step on the employment ladder.
“Importantly for many, they have been able to earn while they learn. In turn they have provided us with a steady stream of highly motivated, talented and effective employees.”
Rob, who has been with Qcom for 18 years following his apprenticeship, added: “Plenty of our apprentices have stayed with us for many years; some have gone on to reach senior positions within the company; while others have parted with our best wishes to take their place in the technology sector across the UK and Europe.
“We see every completed apprenticeship as a success.”
These are messages supported by Annabel Roddy, who joined Qcom via a graduate development scheme and has gone on to secure the role of Business Development Manager.
“The graduate scheme was a great way to join a forward-thinking company with a real commitment to training and individual career development.
“It was a great opportunity to get stuck straight in from day one, working alongside experienced professionals and seeing almost immediately the difference I could make in accelerating sales and delivering marketing campaigns.”
