The excellence of Qcom’s technical service and aftermarket support has always been defined by the quality of our people and their commitment to ‘going the extra mile’ in everything they do.
No one demonstrates this better than the technical heartbeat of the business, our field service engineers.
We believe that our field engineering team is the best in the business, delivering high first-time fix rates, minimised downtime and on-time, on-budget project delivery everywhere from Lands’ End to John O’Groats, Lowestoft to the Dingle Peninsula.
We recruit and then fully PAYE employ all our field service engineers, making sure to identify the very best. Potential and attitude are every bit as important as skill and experience. Through an in-depth training and continuing professional development (CPD) programme delivering upward of 500 hours of training every year, we then encourage and nurture those qualities and abilities, helping our engineers reach their full potential.
We believe this commitment has helped us build and retain the sector’s leading field engineering team.
Across the whole of Qcom, half of our employees have been with us for 10 years or more, providing the continuity and stability on which our values of technical, service and operational excellence are built. And hidden within that remarkable statistic there are many exceptional examples of long service and contribution to the Qcom story.
Caption: James and Matt are just two of a field engineering team that can call on a decade or more of Qcom experience.
Engineers Malcolm Douglas and James Burns have each been with us for 10 years or more.
Tony Martins, Matt Sparks, Simon Scott, George Ogilvie, James Barker, Adrian Bellwood and Wayne Oakley have been with us for 15 years or more.
But two of our field service engineers can top even that: Cameron Grant has 25 years’ service and Rob Toy can point to a remarkable 35 years at Qcom!
Qcom managing director Neil Anderson said: “Our longest-serving field engineers have made an incalculable contribution to the continuing success and development of Qcom over many decades.
“Hundreds of clients and potentially millions of technology end-users have benefited from their skill, knowledge and experience over that time, and they are a source of inspiration and advice for all those who follow in their footsteps.
“Our thanks as well as our congratulations go to all those field engineers who make the Qcom commitment to ‘going the extra mile’ a reality each and every day.”
